Restaurants to eat out in Lisbon during the Holiday Seadson

Looking for an open restaurant to have a nice meal on Christmas Day or on January 1st, in Lisbon, may be as looking for a needle in a hay stack.

Nevertheless, we went on a quest and we made it!

Here’s a list of restaurants in Lisbon where you can eat out during the Holidays and celebrate with your family or friends over a delicious meal.

 

— Open for business on Christmas:

Sacramento: Authentic Portuguese food and an opportunity to taste the traditional cod fish, beloved by all and a regular at the Christmas menu in Portugal. There are two special menus, planned for the occasion, at the cost of 80€/person (Christmas Eve Menu) and 50€/person (Christmas Day Menu). Calçada do Sacramento, 40-46, Chiado.

Bastardo: Delicious Portuguese food mixed with flavors from different cultures and places. This singular restaurant with an edgy décor is located in Baixa and it is open on Christmas Eve as well as on Christmas Day. Rua da Betesga, 3, Baixa. Average price: 50€ /2 persons (drinks not included) – there might be different prices during this season so get in touch with them.

L’Artusi Ristorante: Refined Italian cuisine. For Christmas Eve and Christmas Day the chef has prepared a special menu made of Italian delicacies to die for. The price is fixed (65€/person; children under 11, 32,5€). Rua do Merca-Tudo, 4, São Bento.

Cervejaria Trindade: One of Lisbon’s oldest breweries, located on a former covent (Trindade Covent, in Chiado). Also, they serve a famous steak with a secret sauce recipe and they are open on Christmas Day for lunch. What not to love? Average price: 45€ /2 persons (drinks not included). Rua Nova da Trindade, 20C, Chiado.

Ribadouro: This restaurant as been around for ages and serves quality portuguese food as well as fresh sea food. It is located in Avenida da Liberdade and it is open for lunch on Christmas Day. Average price: 50€ /2 persons (drinks not included). Avenida da Liberdade, 155, Avenida da Liberdade.

 

— Open for business on New Year’s Eve:

Zé da Mouraria 2: The food is legendary, portions are epic and the atmosphere is one of a kind. If you want to wave 2016 goodbye eating true Portuguese cuisine like a king, this is the spot. There’s a special New Year’s Eve menu that include all star dishes like Zé Da Mouraria Cod Fish, Caldo Verde and several types of petiscos and deserts at a pre-fixed price of 60€/person. Rua Gomes Freire, 60, Pena.

Sete Mares: Located off the beaten track, this restaurant became famous for the sea food and fresh fish but they serve really good quality portuguese delicacies as well. They are open for dinner on New Year’s Eve and there’s no doubt you will be entering the new year with your right foot. Average price: 45€ /2 persons (drinks not included). Avenida Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro, 108A, Sete Rios.

Laurentina: Laurentina is a synonym for good codfish. They call themselves “The king of the cod” and indeed they are. They are preparing a New Year’s Eve special menu and be sure not to be disappointed. — Open for business on New Year’s Day:

La Paparrucha: Prime meat, argentinian style, to give you all the energy you will need to face the new year. As a plus, you will also start 2017 over some of the most astonishing views over the city. Open on New Year’s Eve as well. Average price: 80€ /2 persons. Rua Dom Pedro V, 18/20, Príncipe Real.

Osteria: Italian comfort food, like you would eat at your Italian grandmother’s house. It tastes fantasticly and does wonders for your soul. The little restaurant located in Madragoa area is open on New Year’s Day, and has 2 slots of hours available, as per usual. Average price: 35€ /2 persons. Rua das Madres, 52/54, Madragoa.

Cervejaria Portugália: Nowadays they belong to the same owner but Portugália used to be Trindade’s rival. They serve their famous beer steak as well, as well as some other pretty good dishes like Açorda de Marisco, or Bacalhau à Brás. There are several around the city but if you want to know the oldest one, visit their headquarters in Avenida Almirante Reis. Average price: 40€ /2 persons. Open all day, on New Year’s Day.
