Don’t let yourself get fooled by the name. At Fábrica Lisboa (Fabric Lisbon) all pastry, cakes, bread, salad, juices, coffee and every other delicacies are hand made, with an extra dose of flavour.
This coffee shop located in Baixa, in Rua da Madalena, opened a few years ago and calls itself a bistro but it is, in fact, much more than that.
Besides being a friendly place where you can have a nutritious breakfast, a delicious lunch or just a tasty snack, it’s a place that makes you travel back in time and reminisce about your childhood.
For starters, coffee is made on a 1950s professional expresso machine. Also, the décor is a mix of cool and vintage objects like old radios, kitchen utensils from the 70s, antique suitcases, books and even a sign from an old portuguese post office.
As far as the food is concerned, their cheesecake is a bestseller as well as their bread. If you happen to pass by and ear an old time iron bell ringing just change your route and head to Fábrica Lisboa. Every time this bell rings it means a new batch of bread or cakes is ready and that you can taste them right out of the oven.
The cherry on top of it all is that Fábrica Lisboa is open on Sundays, from 9:00 until 19:00.
Sometimes it could be really frustrating trying to take a coffee and eat something, on a Sunday afternoon, in Baixa area. Since Fábrica Lisboa opened its doors not only you have such a place, but also a pretty good one.
