It has already became a tradition.
On October 5th we commemorate the establishment of the Portuguese Republic and, to celebrate the date, the president of the Portuguese republic opens the doors of his official residence, Palácio de Belém, to everyone.
Visits are free and for one day, from 10h until 17h, people can walk around the building, visit the Museum of Presidency and linger on its gardens.
The event usually attracts thousands of persons so if you wish to get in, arriving early is advised.
Entrance is located in Praça Afonso de Albuquerque and the last group will be admitted at 16h45.
While in Belém, take the opportunity to visit the brand new MAAT (Museum of Architecture, Art and Technology) building, a few minutes away from Palácio de Belém.
