Feira da Luz started as a religious festivity in honor of Nossa Senhora da Luz (Our Lady of Luz) and became famous around the 17th century. As the centuries went by and as the festivities got bigger, sellers from all over the region also began selling their products at this Lisbon fair.

Nowadays Feira da Luz is much more than a market or a religious festivity.

It has an unique atmosphere and it is a quick way to experience what going to a small town fair is without leaving the big city.

At Feira da Luz you can buy chinaware, pots and pans, arts and crafts, toys, eat petiscos or our famous deep fried farturas, let the kids ride the merry-go-round, dance, watch popular music concerts, theatre, exhibitions and, of course, see the religious procession of Nossa Senhora da Luz, that takes place on the last day.

The fun lasts for almost a month and this year it starts tomorrow, the 27th of August, with a concert by the great portuguese band Oquestrada, at 21h30.

Don’t miss it out.
