Cinema Ideal is celebrating yet another year and from today until the 31st of August there will be 21 movie sessions for free.
During a whole week about 20 movies will be exhibited on this little cinema theatre near Chiado and all you have to do is to pick up your ticket right before each session, at the box office – limit of 2 tickets per person.
The list of chosen movies includes films from portuguese directors such as Miguel Gomes,João Botelho and Paulo Rocha, as well as international directors namely Wim Wenders, Charlie Chaplin, Ken Loach and Alain Resnais.
On Sunday, the 28th August, there will also be a happy hour form 18h to 19h, followed by a very special concert by portuguese musician JP Simões, also with free admission (limited to the venue capacity of 40 persons).
Cinema Ideal is the oldest movie theatre of Lisbon and one of the few that managed to survive in the city centre. It opened in 1904 and lived several lives, as Salão Ideal, Cinema Ideal, Cine Camões and Cine Paraíso.
For years and years it was a shady adult movie theatre until August 2014 when the space got a much-deserved renovation and reopened its doors as Cinema Ideal.
