The metro green line will be improved over the next few months.

Until now, this was the only metro line where trains had only 3 carriages, which meant that many times trains were overcrowded, specially during rush hour.

This happened because one of the metro stops, Arroios, wasn’t long enough to have 6 carriages as all the other stops. Not anymore!

Arroios station was closed yesterday and will get a much deserved renovation over the next 18 months. As an alternative, people can use the Alameda or Anjos stops, just a few minutes away, or the several Carris bus lines that run through that area.

Also since yesterday, green line trains started circulating with 6 carriages, instead of only 3.

The green line connects Telheiras station to Cais do Sodré and it is one of the oldest metro lines in Lisbon.
