It is impossible to talk about portuguese Fado and not to talk about Carlos do Carmo.
He is one of the biggest voices of Fado, his mother was one of the greatest Fado singers, Lucília do Carmo, and he was born in Mouraria, of one of Lisbon’s most typical neighbourhoods and that has a deep connection with Fado music and its history.
At 76, Carlos do Carmo has a very rich and long career. More than 50 years after recording his first album he has influenced dozens of Fado singers, from different generations, and was he granted with a prestigious Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
We could keep on giving you reasons why a Carlos do Carmo show is unmissable, nevertheless, we will let you see, or listen, for yourself.
Carlos do Carmo will be performing tomorrow at Largo de São Carlos, at 21h30 and we are sure that the small square will not be large enough neither to accommodate all the audience that will flock to listen to him, neither to keep his great voice from echoing through Chiado.
This show is included in Com’out Lisbon Festival and entrance is free.
